We see the videos of women in silk robes, sipping matcha, and "protecting their peace"… Which translates into: Doing absolutely nothing. It may look like healing. But if you’ve hit rock bottom, if you’re like me, In your 30’s and starting from zero, that "Soft Life" is actually just laziness. Plain and simple.
You don’t need a bubble bath. You need a brutal schedule.
Here is the truth you won’t hear on TikTok:
• Rest is a reward, not a starting point. If you haven’t built anything yet, you aren’t "resting". You’re hiding.
• Your messy house is feeding your depression. You can’t "manifest" mental clarity while surrounded by last week’s laundry and dirty dishes.
• “Protecting your peace" is usually just an excuse to avoid doing any work. If you’re "too triggered" to look at your bank account or apply for a remote job, you aren’t healing. You’re choosing to remain a victim.
Recovery after living in chaos isn’t soft. It’s gritty. It’s waking up at 6:00 AM when you feel like staying in bed for a week. It’s choosing a boring routine over "vibes." It’s understanding that financial stability provides more “peace" than any scented candle ever could.
Stop trying to have the "Soft Life" when you really need a stable life.
Build the foundation first. Get the structure back. Get the income flowing. Then, and only then, can you afford to go soft.
Are you using 'self-care' to heal, or are you using it to hide? Be honest in the comments.
