Circling The Drain
This isn't going to be another regurgitated article promising 30k in passive income by tomorrow. I twitch a little just thinking about how much time I spent watching those on repeat. Let me save you the time. I'll tell you what I learned instead, something most "gurus" won't admit: I spent the better part of 2 years deep diving into every course and learned everything from blogging to digital design. I did the research. I watched the videos of people throwing cash at the camera, promising I could "make 8k in a week” Honestly, I was just trying to make my rent.
But I didn't make a dime. I was trapped in "Learning as Procrastination." Creating ebooks and guides that were never published. I told myself I wasn’t ready because I didn't know how to edit videos or find the "perfect" niche. I was waiting for a version of myself to appear that wasn't "tech-anxious." If you’re at zero followers and zero sales, stop trying to be a pro. Just be brave enough to be a beginner in public. That's the best advice I could've gotten.
Failure Can Turn Into Your Best Business Tool: Learn From It
Knowledge is useless without action to follow through. Just deciding to do something isn't enough. I had all the information I needed, but trapped in the information overload out there. I couldn't execute it. I used to think why am I so special that anyone would listen to me? It wasn’t until I got sober that I saw more clearly and I realized the "Why Me?" phase had to end.
Once I stopped looking for the "Get Rich Quick" fairy tale. I realized most gurus are selling fantasy for clicks. But I wanted to know for sure, so I stopped asking "Why me?" and started asking "Why NOT me?" I made another ebook but this time I kept going. I created my first ebook cover in Canva, set up a simple Payhip store, and hit publish.

The "No-Tech" Tech StackI still have tech-anxiety. I’m still not a pro at video editing. But I didn't let it stop me. Here is the exact stack I used to get my FiRST 8 sales:
Canva: For ebook covers and Pinterest pins.
Payhip/Gumroad: To hold my products (Simple, low-tech, and it works).
Pinterest:/Facebook: My "secret search engine.
The "60/40" Strategy
You don't have to create a masterpiece to start. You need to "stack" your value.
I use the 60/40 Rule: Give away 60% of the solution for free (like a 3-page "Quick Start" guide) to build trust. Then, offer the other 40% (the full system) as a paid product.
The 5-Sale Reality Check
Those 5 sales weren't about the money. I wasn't going to pay my rent with it for sure. They were proof. A total stranger said, "I see the value in what you created." It takes about 6 months at least to see and maybe 2 years to see a full-time income. Don't believe the fairy tales believe in the work. But it's possible.
My advice? Stop overthinking. Pick a niche. Make a "brick." Put it
out there. Why not you?
